Marie Noëlle studies Mathematics and subsequently receives a Master of Business at the EAP (Paris / Oxford / Berlin). She works since 1982 as an author, screenplaywriter and filmmaker.

In 1979 starts her collaboration with Peter Sehr: she edits, co-writes or co-directs various of his films ("A group of people", "Und nicht ein Tohuwabohu", "Obsession", "Love the Hard Way") In 1988 she sets up with him the production company "P'Artisan Filmproduktion GmbH".

1989, she writes her first novel "Les baillements de l'hippopotame".
In the same year, she starts to work with Herbert Achternbusch (one of the most renowned german artists who made not less than 28 features) and produces various of his films such as "Niemandsland", "I know the way to the Hofbräuhaus", "Ich bin da", "Ab nach Tibet".
Parallel to that, she further pursues her literary work: she publishes in 1991 the novel "Arwagar" at "Signe de Piste Editions" in Paris and writes various short stories and two theater pieces "The marquise of O" (based on the story by Heinrich von Kleist) and "Zenit".

In 1995 she writes and directs her first feature "Ich erzähle mir einen Mann" ("I tell myself a man") which is nominated for the "Max Ophüls Preis" (Price for the best first films in Germany), followed in 1998 by "Komm doch an den Tisch", a documentary for ARTE and the "Bayerische Rundfunk", and various other documentaries since then.

Since 2001, she organizes weekly events at the ARRI Cinema, inviting directors, writers and artists to present their work, focusing on the relationship of cinema and the arts.

Inspired by the story of her own family, she starts 2005 to write a screenplay for a feature film „The Anarchist’s Wife“, which she directed 2007. For this film she received the Bernhard Wicki Award 2008 – German Cinema Award for peace. The screenplay was also nominated for the “Humanitas Prize” 2009 in Los Angeles. “The Anarchist’s Wife” was shown at the Sundance Filmfestival 2009 and many other festivals. The project is a German -French -Spanish co-production.

Currently Marie Noëlle is working together with Peter Sehr on the postproduction of “Ludwig II.”

She lives between Munich and Paris.
